Skins are "supported" by the game and won't get wiped by the launcher. Some people use sound realism mods for example, so the MG hitting a tank doesn't sound like throwing a rock at an aluminum pan. sound too wimpy or share the same sound with others (bombers, I'm looking at you!). There are hundreds, if not thousands, of posts on the forums complaining about how engines, cannons, etc. We can do just about anything to the game with the CDK, except for modifying sound. Gaijin knows this already, as shown by the very existence of the CDK. Hell, we all know about Gmod, the game built for the sole purpose of being modded! It hardly needs to be said that being able to customize the game to your tastes greatly adds to one's immersion and enjoyment when playing said game. There are plenty of old games out there that wouldn't be nearly as alive now if it weren't for the massive modding potential they have.
